When it comes to alternative medicine and natural remedies, CBD is one of the most exciting products on the market today More and more possible health benefits are being discovered each and every day. But what’s exciting to some, can be frightening to others.

One segment of our population that could potentially benefit the most from CBD usage is our senior citizens. So why aren’t they all trying it? If it could help with chronic pain, anxiety, sleep, and so much more, why isn’t every senior citizen hopping aboard the CBD train?

Don’t Fear the Unknown!

We humans are creatures of habit. We’re also generally afraid of the unknown—CBD is a relatively new trend in the alternative medicine field, and while the benefits look promising, the scientific understanding of exactly how CBD is so beneficial remains to be determined. Many medical professionals, while citing its benefits, also claim, “We don’t know how it works. But it does!”

This is exactly why Nuvamed was created. By developing CBD-infused products familiar to those that already exist, the goal is to bring the benefits of CBD to a demographic which might otherwise be on the fence about trying it.

So what can it do for you or your loved one? Theoretically, quite a bit, but be advised that everyone is different and again – studies on CBD usage benefits are still in the early stages.

One of the drawbacks with traditional over-the-counter pain relievers is that they only mask the pain, without actually helping with the root cause. Truly natural relief is one of the main reasons why seniors are turning to CBD.

What the Science Says

Studies are currently underway researching CBD and it’s effects on neurodegenerative disorders. It’s been shown to help – not cure – as an aid for people suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia. Scientists are finding that CBD may help stimulate the growth of cells, which in turn can lessen the impacts of these diseases.

Also regarding heart health, CBD has been linked to helping with stress reduction and high blood pressure. It might also help you sleep through the night!

With all of these potential benefits, why not give it a try? It might be an easy decision for those of us “in the know”, but there are plenty of skeptics who simply assume it’s not for them. Many of whom are in the older demographic and need these benefits the most.

Convincing one’s parents or grandparents to try CBD – a decision that could potentially change their lives for the better – may be easier said than done. Typical responses might include, “I don’t smoke weed!” or “I don’t want to break the law” or “I’m on plenty of medications already and I don’t want to add more to the cocktail.”

Well, the first thing you can tell your old-timers about CBD is that it’s not marijuana (or “weed”, “pot”, “ganja”, etc.)

Yes, both hemp and marijuana are part of the cannabis family, but the similarities are less than you might think when it comes to chemical makeup. Marijuana is high in THC, the psychoactive compound that produces a “high” sensation, while hemp is high in CBD and nearly void of THC.

If your CBD is coming from marijuana, there will likely be some THC mixed in as well. There isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that – this might be exactly when you’re looking for. Most, however, prefer to enjoy CBD’s benefits without the “trip”.

When CBD comes comes from hemp, however, there should be only negligible trace amounts of THC, which means you shouldn’t feel any psychoactive or hallucinogenic effects.

An anonymous CBD user put it best: “With CBD, you don’t notice the difference when you’re taking it, but you notice the difference when you’re not.”

So to any skeptic who doesn’t like the idea of marijuana, or who is not comfortable with “getting high”, let them rest assured that CBD is an entirely different thing. Nuvamed products use only hemp CBD to produce THC-free products. We test them twice to make sure!

In regards to using CBD while on other medications, we encourage you to consult with a doctor, or with your parents/grandparents doctor. CBD has been known to enhance the effect of certain sedatives, for example, so a professional opinion is recommended for someone already on prescription medication.
